William Franklin Beedle Jr. (William Holden) was known and typecast as Hollywood's "Golden Boy" due to his first starring role in the film Golden Boy. He is most famous for his roles in Sunset Boulevad, Bridge on the River Kwai, and his Academy Award winning performance in Stalag 17.
